The hypercar that drives upside down
Most hypercars need speed before they can defy gravity. The McMurtry Spéirling does it standing still. Built in Gloucestershire by a team drawing on Formula 1 and aerospace expertise, the Spéirling uses a patented Downforce-on-Demand fan system to generate roughly 2000kg of downforce from a dead stop, delivering cornering forces near 3G without needing aerodynamic speed to work. In April 2025, engineers proved the point by driving the car up a ramp and holding it completely inverted, secured by nothing but fan-generated suction. The Spéirling has since broken outright records at Goodwood Festival of Speed, Hockenheim, Castle Combe and Laguna Seca. For a car built on a single idea, executed without compromise, the results keep arriving everywhere it goes.
